The nervous systems is divided into two main parts:

• The central nervous system, which comprises of the brain and spinal cord
• The peripheral nervous system, which includes nerves that branch from the spinal cord extending to all other parts of the body

A neuron is a messenger cell that receives and transmits information the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system. The neurons are the ones that conduct electrical signals, and there is a level that causes depolarization to reach a given value to cause an action potential.
